DescriptionPosition Description:
The Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral appointee in computer science to perform research in optimizing communication runtime systems and threading systems for large distributed computing platforms. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team involving computer and computational scientists, physicists, and mathematicians to enable data analysis of simulations and experiments running on DOE leadership-class supercomputing architectures and facilities.

The MCS Division at Argonne National Laboratory is a leader in the design of advanced systems software tools and applications of interest to the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense and various industry partners. Appointees will participate in a collegial and stimulating environment, including access to multidisciplinary collaborations, world-class software toolkits and some of the world’s largest supercomputers including US’s first exascale supercomputer, “Aurora".

Position Requirements:
An expected/recent doctoral degree in computer science, or related discipline. Programming with C/C++ (5+ years’ experience). High performance computing systems (2+ years’ experience) MPI, OpenMP, PGAS or equivalent parallel programming models (3+ years’ experience). Programming with accelerators such as GPUs (1+ years’ experience) Experience in the aforementioned topics is more important than the field in which you received your Ph.D. Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with science teams, other laboratories, and universities. Good self-motivation to solve problems and grow professionally. Good written and oral communication skills.
