For HPC Newcomers
The HPC Immersion program gives undergraduate students early in their academic career an introduction to high performance computing (HPC). Students will be guided through the SC20 Technical Program and meaningfully engage in activities including technical talks and workshops.
The program aims to give students a better understanding of HPC career options in computer science, computer engineering, and computational science.
The HPC Immersion program will give participants access to the entire Students@SC program, with sessions including:
- hands-on learning sessions
NEW FOR SC20
The SC20 committee is dedicated to providing the community with the best possible conference experience for all participants. To that end, while we are still planning for an in-person experience, SC20 will also provide remote participation opportunities for the conference in November 2020 for those who are unable to travel to Atlanta due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that we will have both a virtual and on-site HPC Immersion Program for SC20. Due to the uncertainty at this time with international travel, only students residing within North America as of November 2020 are eligible for the on-site HPC Immersion Program. Anyone residing in North America that is concerned with traveling to the conference can also apply for the virtual HPC Immersion Program.
Prior to SC20, support including an introduction to HPC will be provided to participants.
Students should be first-time attendees with little to no HPC experience or exposure. Expenses covered for HPC Immersion participants include air travel, a stipend for meals and incidentals, housing, and Technical Program registration, including Workshops, at SC20.
Students are expected to attend the entire conference (Sunday – Friday).
