Biography
Julie Ma is Program Manager for the Northeast and CAREERS Cyberteams. In this role, among other things, she spearheaded efforts to create the Connect.Cyberinfrastructure Portal and Ask.CI. Julie is an elected member of the Campus Champions Leadership Team.
Julie has 30+ years’ leadership experience spanning the corporate and non-profit sectors. She began her career as a hardware engineer and designed the processor node for the BBN TC2000, one of the earliest commercially available parallel processing computers. Technology trends and happenstance took her through a journey that included a 15-year stop in the arts, but she returned to research computing in 2017 to join the NSF-sponsored Northeast Cyberteam, which aims to make research computing more accessible to small/medium-sized institutions in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. In 2020, this effort expanded through CAREERS to include six additional states. She holds an MSEE and BSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
