Biography
James Ahrens is the Center Lead of the Information Science and Technology Institute at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is also the U.S. Exascale Computing Project’s Data and Visualization Lead and Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Visualization and Graphics. His research interests include visualization and the intersection of data-intensive and high-performance computing. Dr. Ahrens is author of over 100 peer reviewed papers that have been cited over 5000 times. He is the founder/design lead of ParaView, an open-source visualization tool designed to handle extremely large data.
