Katrin Heitmann is a Physicist in the High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory. Her primary research area is computational cosmology and she is currently the Computing and Simulation Coordinator for the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration. Katrin is the Argonne-PI for the Exasky Project, one of the applications under the Exascale Computing Project (ECP). Together with her collaborators, she is preparing the cosmological simulation code HACC (Hardware/Hybrid Accelerated Cosmology Code) for the arrival of exascale supercomputers. The simulations that will be carried out with HACC on these machines will generate very large amounts of data and efficient compression schemes will be essential to capture the full range of information that the simulation data will have to offer.
