Ryan Grant is a Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Scalable Systems Software Department in the Center for Computing Research at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He conducts research in scalable systems software for supercomputing with a focus on communications middleware for offloaded (Smart) network interfaces. He leads several research projects in this area including the Portals Networking Interface project. In addition, he works with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) specifications group where his research is applied and deployed throughout the scientific supercomputing community. Ryan has authored more than 70 publications and won numerous awards for his work, including an R&D100 award, major US government research awards and best paper awards. Ryan holds research professorships at the University of New Mexico and Queen’s University. He graduated with a PhD in Computer Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada.
