Tao An is a research professor from Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has broad research interests in astronomy, with the primary focus on high-resolution imaging the compact celestial objects such as active galactic nuclei. Tao has published over 100 papers in refereed journals. Recently Tao is leading the preparation work of the Chinese node of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA, the largest radio telescope to be built soon) regional centers. He led the team to accomplish the world’s first prototype of the SKA regional data center. Tao and his collaborators have made great success in applying the cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques to analyze the astronomy big data.
