Ambros Gleixner is professor for optimization and discrete mathematics at HTW Berlin and head of the research group Mathematical Optimization Methods at Zuse Institute Berlin. His research focuses on computational aspects of mixed-integer linear and nonlinear programming. Since 2015, he has been leading the development of the optimization framework SCIP, which today provides the fastest MIP solver openly available in source code. Motivated by this, his main interest is the design of structure-specific algorithms that help to improve generic solvers both in terms of speed and accuracy. He received his Master’s degree and PhD in mathematics from the Berlin Institute of Technology in Germany.
