Markus Dolensky is Technical Lead and Product Manager in the Data Intensive Astronomy program at ICRAR in Perth. Markus has a background in Computer Science and Astronomy as well as a business degree. He has worked both in industry and as staff member of intergovernmental organisations on ground and space-based missions in the fields of astronomy and meteorology. He integrated image correction systems in ESA and EUMETSAT ground segments, set up novel on-demand data processing pipelines for the Hubble Space Telescope, acted as Scientific Processing Architect when pioneering the interoperable Virtual Observatory at ESO and had a technical leadership role in several phase A and B studies.

Originally from Austria, he is now living in Australia and engaged in one of biggest challenges in data intensive computing - the design of the Square Kilometre Array radio telescope science data handling and processing system.
