Robert is a Ph.D. Candidate at Clemson University's School of Computing who works to make error bounded lossy compression more approachable to application scientists and engineers who use it to help them tackle the growing volume of data in HPC. His research interests are in lossy compression, distributed systems, and operating systems. He is the principle author of LibPressio a library which provides a generic abstraction for the compression of dense tensors. He was selected for the US Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program in 2019, the National Research Trainee-ship in Resilient Infrastructure and Environmental Systems Fellowship in 2017-2020, and received an honorable mention for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship in 2017. He is advised by Dr. Amy Apon and Dr. Jon C. Calhoun of Clemson University and Dr. Franck Cappello of Argonne National Laboratory. More about Robert can be found at https://robertu94.github.io/about .
