Takuya Akiba received the B.S. degree in information science from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2011, M.S. degree in computer science from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2013, and Ph.D. degree in computer science at the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2015. From 2015 to 2016, he was an assistant professor at National Institute of Informatics, Japan. From 2016, he is a researcher at Preferred Networks, Inc., Japan. His research interest includes research and development of scalable machine learning systems. He is the author of ChainerMN, a distributed deep learning framework, and Optuna, a distributed hyperparameter optimization framework.
