Giuseppe M. J. Barca is a Lecturer in High-Performance Computing (HPC) in the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a bachelors' and a masters' degree in chemical engineering, and a PhD in computational quantum chemistry taken under the guidance of Prof. Peter Gill. After postdoctoral research in HPC with Alistair Rendell and Mark Gordon, Barca accepted the faculty role of Lecturer the ANU. His research focuses on the development of extreme-scale computational science algorithms for cutting-edge high-performance computing systems. He has made significant contributions to the development of the widely used computational chemistry software packages GAMESS and Q-Chem. Barca leads the GPU development for the GAMESS Exascale Computing Project.
