Tom Conte holds a joint appointment in the Schools of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he co-directs CRNCH (the Center for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies). His research is in the areas of computer architectures, models of physical computation, compiler optimizations and architectural performance evaluation.
In 2015, Conte served as President of the IEEE Computer Society. While on leave from NC State in 2000-'01, he was the Chief Microarchitect for DSP startup BOPS, Inc. In 2013, he co-founded the IEEE Rebooting Computing Initiative focusing on post-Moore computing. Currently, Conte is a member of the Board of Directors of IEEE as also vice chair of the most recent incarnation of the semiconductor roadmap (the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems, irds.ieee.org).
