Biography
Erik Lindahl holds dual professorships in Biophysics at Stockholm University and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and leads a research environment at Science for Life Laboratory focused on developing state-of-the-art computational tools to understand the molecular mechanisms of the protein molecules in our cells. His lab leads the development of the GROMACS molecular dynamics toolkit, which is one of the world's most widely used HPC applications, and which has been tuned to achieve outstanding performance and scaling on everything from laptops to supercomputers and even the Playstation as part of Folding@Home. His team is among the ones that have been able to fully exploit both CPU and GPU hardware from every vendor available. Lindahl is a former chair of the PRACE Scientific Steering Committee, lead scientist for the EU BioExcel Center-of-Excellence, director of Bioinformatics at Science for Life Laboratory, and co-director of the Swedish e-Science Research Center.
