Sheng Di is a computer scientist at Argonne National Laboratory. He is an IEEE senior member, a scientist at Large through the Consortium for Advanced Science and Engineering (CASE) at the University of Chicago, and an institute fellow of Northwestern-Argonne Institute of Science and Engineering (NAISE). Dr. Di is the key developer of error-bounded lossy compressor - SZ and lossy compression assessment tool/library - Z-checker. He has published 30+ papers on prestigious conferences/journals (including SC, HPDC, PPoPP, IPDPS, TPDS, CCGrid, CLUSTER, BigData, etc.) in past four years. He has rich experience on the compression assessment for different applications, including climate simulation, seismic simulation, cosmology simulation, molecular dynamic simulation, quantum computing simulation, and so on. He is the recipient of 2018 IEEE Chicago Section Distinguished Mentoring Award and 2019 IEEE Chicago Section Distinguished Research and Development Award, in the recognition of his outstanding work on the lossy compression for scientific applications.
