Dr. Tatsuo Nishikawa graduated from the Department of Mathematics, Hokkaido University in 1995 and received his M.Sci. degree in 1997 under the supervision of Professor Ichiro Tsuda (Chaotic Dynamical System). In 2000, Nishikawa received his Ph.D. in Marine Engineering from Osaka Prefecture University, focusing on Fluid-Structure Interaction. In the same year, he joined CRC Research Institute, Inc., and was engaged in numerical simulation. In 2002, he moved to Shipbuilding Research Centre of Japan, whose primary business is towing tank test for ship design. In addition to the towing tank tests, he developed a few new concept ships and formulated the design criteria. An initial design system for ships has been developed by his group by utilizing their towing tank test results. Since 2011, he has been involved in the research on the realization of numerical towing tank tests by using high performance computing.
