DescriptionThe evolution of HPC teaching at Liverpool makes use of typical student cluster competitions as student assignments, to help learn both technical and soft skills. It has been identified that these competitions offer learning opportunities for students. Specifically, by participating, students would practice their technical skills but also soft skills such as group work, meeting deadlines and report writing. However, there are specific barriers to directly using the competitions for students learning HPC, including: the fixed time of international conference competitions; rules limiting the number of teams per institution; potential privacy issues relating to submissions and marking of assignments; and potential conflict of IP ownership.
