SUMMARY:End the Tyranny of Tiers with Redefined Flash Economics
DESCRIPTION:Exhibitor Forum\n\nEnd the Tyranny of Tiers with Redefined Fla
sh Economics\n\nDenworth\n\nStorage users have built, managed and sworn at
multi-tiered storage infrastructures for the past 30 years, based on the
assumption that they thereby minimize their total storage expenditure. Adv
ances in storage technology including NVMe over Fabrics, QLC flash and 3D
XPoint combine with software advances from containers, advanced erasure co
des and revolutionary fine-grained global data reduction to bring flash st
orage to a price that challenges this assumption. \n\nThis session will ex
plain how VAST’s DASE (Disaggregated Shared Everything) architecture combi
nes these technology advances into a scale-out file and object storage sys
tem that delivers the performance HPC centers require for scratch and home
directories at a cost that allows its usage for their less active data as
well. We will also review experience from the field in the form of bench
marks and customer case studies in the most demanding HPC environments.\n\
