SUMMARY:Visualizing Usage on HPC Systems
DESCRIPTION:Posters, Scientific Visualization & Data Analytics Showcase\n\
nVisualizing Usage on HPC Systems\n\nSolis, Foss, Frogoso, Navrátil\n\nVis
Queue is an interactive dashboard with dynamic graphics plotting and viewe
r interactivity that visualizes the operation of high performance computin
g (HPC) systems at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the Unive
rsity of Texas (UT) at Austin. While there are options available for anal
yzing HPC resources, VisQueue's goal was to focus on system utilization co
rrelated to different research domains. It works with both mouse-driven an
d touch interfaces and was designed to create a straight-forward easy read
ing of pertinent data for HPC designers, maintenance teams and users and t
he general public to understand the impact and importance of these impress
ive resources. The application has proved to be a valuable outreach tool,
particularly interesting for those with a keen interest in technology, bu
t not the background to answer the question: "What is this huge, awesomely
fast and extremely expensive computer actually doing right now and specif
ically, what's it good for?"\n\nTag: Big Data, Data Analytics, Compression
, and Management, Visualization\n\nRegistration Category: Tech Program Reg
