SUMMARY:Impactful Visualizations
DESCRIPTION:Posters, Scientific Visualization & Data Analytics Showcase\n\
nImpactful Visualizations\n\nCarvey, Garasi, Bolstad\n\nMy simple animatio
n of an aluminum ball hitting an aluminum block was accepted into the firs
t SC showcase. Over time the importance of creating "Polished" videos has
prompted a new category, "Explanatory". Creating impactful scientific an
imations can appeal to a broad audience.\n\nTypically, teams of scientists
and artists spend months creating polished visualizations. New technolog
y and techniques allow a single scientist to create polished visualization
s that rival those done by teams and in less time.\n\nThe video shows exam
ples of how typical visualizations, created with applications like Paravie
w and Visit, can be rendered to appeal with new tools to create polish and
impactful visualizations.\n\nTag: Big Data, Data Analytics, Compression,
and Management, Visualization\n\nRegistration Category: Tech Program Reg P
