SUMMARY:Computer Scientist
DESCRIPTION:Job Posting\n\nComputer Scientist\n\n\n\nSLAC is seeking compu
 ter scientists to formulate and carry out world-class computer science res
 earch in areas of relevance to SLAC, including but not limited to systems 
 software for exascale computing (data management, programming models, oper
 ating and runtime systems, distributed systems, system architecture and st
 orage) and data analytics (algorithms and tools for machine learning and v
 ery large scale data analysis).  The Scientist will work as part of an int
 erdisciplinary team of researchers and faculty, specifically collaborating
  with members of the computer science research group, other SLAC scientist
 s and faculty and students in Stanford’s Computer Science Department as we
 ll as other departments in the School of Engineering.\n\nYour specific re
 sponsibilities include:\n\nPerform high quality experimental and/or th
 eoretical research\n\nCollaborate with SLAC staff and external partner
 s\n\nResearch programs include but not limited to: systems software fo
 r exascale computing (data management, programming models, operating and r
 untime systems, distributed systems, system architecture and storage) and 
 data analytics (algorithms and tools for machine learning and very large s
 cale data analysis)\n\nNote: The Associate Scientist position is the entry
  level in the Staff Scientist career path.  The Associate Scientist is a 3
  to 5 year fixed term research staff position.  The second level of this c
 areer path, Staff Scientist is a regular continuing position.  The Associa
 te position is scheduled to be assessed after the 3 to 5 year period with 
 the possibility of appointment to the Staff Scientist level.  Appointment 
 to the Staff Scientist level requires a review and evaluation of documente
 d scientific achievement.\n\nApplicants should include a cover letter, a s
 tatement of research including brief summary of accomplishments, a curricu
 lum vitae, a list of publications, and names of three references for futur
 e letters of recommendation with the application.\n\nQualifications:\n\n
   Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline with 2 years o
 f research experience in exascale computing\n\nDemonstrated research a
 bility.\n\nDemonstrated effective written and verbal communication ski
 lls.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with 
 a diverse population.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work independently an
