 What You Will Do:\n• Integrate knowledge of network protocols, services, t
 hreats, vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, hardware capabilities, and
  other information to build a security environment that reduces and mitiga
 tes risk while allowing ESnet’s open science mission to succeed.\n• Serve 
 as a core member of ESnet’s Security Group performing varying security dut
 ies including threat awareness, proactive network traffic analysis, develo
 pment/management of security services, incident response, and resolution o
 f security incidents.\n• Analyze logs, alerts and diverse data sets to sea
 rch for threats both in the data center and on the WAN.\n• Successfully le
 ad projects, gather broad stakeholder input, define needs, find solutions,
  and communicate progress regularly.\n• Promote a strong security culture 
 through technical security consulting with other ESnet staff.\n\nWhat is R
 equired:\n• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experien
 ce or a Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience; or equivalent c
 ombination of education and experience.\n• Experience with Intrusion Detec
 tion Systems (IDS), signature development, or network/packet level examina
 tion using tools such as tcpdump or wireshark.\n• Project leadership exper
 ience, specifically in gathering requirements, developing technical projec
 t scope, finding solutions, and reporting progress and challenges. \n• Str
 ong understanding of TCP/IP networks, at multiple layers.\n• Competency wi
 th Linux or BSD, including scripting and/or automation with tools such as 
 python and ansible.\n• Exceptional analysis and troubleshooting skills.\n•
  Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of communicati
 ng via multiple mediums and to various audiences.\n• Demonstrated ability 
 to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary tea
 m with patience and fortitude.\n\nDesired Qualifications:\n• Demonstrated 
 experience in system administration and/or network administration (design,
  implementation, and maintenance) and the ability to apply that experience
  to security system architecture and design.\n• Enjoys threat hunting and 
 has a curiosity to dig into logs and/or SIEM tools.\n• Demonstrated experi
 ence and a desire to write technical documentation.\n• Enjoys DevOps and h
 as experience building or using CI/CD pipelines.\n• Experience using “Big 
 Data” tools for security analysis and has a data science mindset.\n• Demon
 strated experience working with federal security policies/guidelines and m
 apping to technical solutions.\n• Experience hardening container deploymen
 ts (e.g., via Kubernetes) or cloud infrastructure; familiarity with securi
