SUMMARY:Postdoctoral Appointee –Portability and Optimization for GPU execu
 tion
DESCRIPTION:Job Posting\n\nPostdoctoral Appointee –Portability and Optimiz
ation for GPU execution\n\n\n\nPosition Description:\n\nThe Argonne Leader
ship Computing Facility’s (ALCF) mission is to accelerate major scientific
discoveries and engineering breakthroughs for humanity by designing and p
roviding world-leading computing facilities in partnership with the comput
ational science community. We help researchers solve some of the world’s l
argest and most complex problems with our unique combination of supercompu
ting resources and computational science expertise. \n\nWith the coming A
urora exascale supercomputer, the ALCF has an opening for a postdoctoral p
osition in application portability and optimization for GPU execution. Th
e successful candidate will work with Argonne science applications, and us
er applications, to develop performant GPU-centric execution of these appl
ications. The candidate is expected to work with applications from a vari
ety of science domains, including but not limited to light source data, bi
omedical applications, high energy physics, computational fluid dynamics,
and simulations of fundamental physics and chemistry. In particular, cand
idates with experience in nek5000 and nekRS are particularly encouraged to
apply, though experience with this software is not required.\n\nThe candi
date will be expected to present his/her work at major domestic and intern
ational computing conferences, and it is expected that the work performed
through this position will extend and enhance the science performed on Aur
ora. Past experience with scalable software and systems is desirable but
not necessarily required.\n\nPosition Requirements:\n\nPhD in computer sci
ence, physical science or engineering in a related field.\nConsiderable do
main expertise and knowledge of leadership-class computing applications.\n
Knowledge of and experience with heterogenous computing, particularly GPU
computing.\nExperience with distributed computing is desirable.\nExperienc
e with hybrid computing architectures and nek5000, particularly nekRS, is
valuable but not required.\nGood communications skills and previous experi
ence in writing technical papers and presentations at national and interna
tional symposia is expected.\nAbility to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impa
ct, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.\n\nRegistration Category: Te
ch Program Reg Pass, Workshop Reg Pass, Tutorial Reg Pass, Exhibits Reg Pa
 ss
