 h Performance Computing Systems and Operations Group in the Computational 
 Science Center is in need of a talented individual who can support scienti
 fic research, data-sharing, web applications and field research work lever
 aging Amazon Web Services (AWS). This candidate must have an interest in m
 aking a difference in the world by helping to design, build, automate and 
 enhance cloud hosted systems that support data-sharing platforms, web appl
 ications, data analysis platforms, machine learning environments, and data
  modeling environments related to sustainable energy technologies and mark
 ets. This position will predominantly involve systems architecture, permis
 sions management and service provisioning. This candidate will work direct
 ly with project leaders and the cloud team to help design, implement and e
 nhance cloud-based solutions for external and internal applications or ana
 lysis environments.  This position involves learning and working with a wi
 de array of technologies at all tiers of a software and infrastructure sta
 ck.\n\nTo best support our project teams, we need someone who understands 
 and can help implement cloud best practices for availability, performance,
  security and cost efficiency.  You will be providing project teams with c
 loud architectural and development guidance, deploying secure infrastructu
 re, providing appropriate least-privileged access to project team members,
  helping create cost estimates, working with teams on meeting their milest
 ones, and providing platform, custom API or web portal support for common 
 patterns and practices. A successful candidate will be able to work on mul
 tiple priorities across multiple teams, while adhering to NREL’s and the c
 loud team’s processes and procedures.\n\nWorking as a member of the cloud 
 team, you will be responsible for managing your tasks across multiple proj
 ects/deadlines, moving internal projects/initiatives to completion, contri
 buting to our infrastructure as code repositories, working with cloud team
  members on standards, patterns and practices, and providing operational s
 upport for projects deployed to the cloud.  To best support these efforts 
 a successful candidate should have good problem-solving skills, communicat
 ion skills and background in some of the following:  infrastructure as cod
 e, systems monitoring, systems or database administration, log management,
  cloud security, utilizing ticketing systems, performance tuning and autom
 ation.  \n\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, 
 Engineering or related and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent rel
 evant education/experience. Or,  Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engi
 neering or related and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevan
 t education/experience. Or, PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or relate
 d or equivalent relevant education/experience.\n\nAdditional Required Qual
 ifications:\nComplete understanding and wide application of principles, co
 ncepts and techniques in specific field. General knowledge of related IS d
 isciplines. Strong leadership and project management skills. Skilled in an
 alytical techniques, practices and problem solving. Advanced programming, 
 design and analysis abilities with various computer software programs and 
 information systems.  Skilled in analytical techniques and practices, and 
 problem solving. Skilled in written and verbal communication.\n\nRequired:
 \nMust be able to obtain an HSPD-12 badge/credential. \nMust have demonstr
 ated experience with UNIX/Linux system administration.\nMust have experien
 ce with one or more cloud service providers, for example, AWS, google, Azu
 re – Microsoft.\n\nPreferred:\nDatabase Systems:Postgres, MySQL, RedShift,
  MongoDB/DocumentDB\nDeployment Support:Jenkins, CodeBuild\nConfiguration 
 Management:Ansible, AWS Systems Manager\nInstance OS:mix of Linux and some
  Windows, Linux-based Docker support\nWeb Frameworks:Django, Flask\nFamili
 arity with and the commitment to stay educated on Amazon Web Services is p
