DESCRIPTION:Job Posting\n\nLinux Systems Administrator\n\n\n\nThe National
  Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky
  Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's primary laboratory for res
 earch, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficien
 cy technologies. The NREL Computational Science Center (CSC) has an immedi
 ate opening for a Linux Systems Administrator. The Advanced Computing Oper
 ations teams supports High-Performance Computing, Data-Intensive Computing
 , and computing using public cloud services.  This position is responsible
  for architecture, engineering, implementing and operating services.\n\nJo
 b duties and responsibilities of the position:\n\nDay-to-Day Operations:\n
 \nProvide operations support to, and work closely with, project owners and
  developers to design on-premise and cloud-based solutions that meet evolv
 ing needs and monitor/enhance performance.\nDemonstrate leadership for the
  “day-to-day” and ongoing project work and operations of the research data
  environment.\nMaintain the integrity and continual operation of the compu
 ting, data storage systems, and related services.\nMaintain cyber security
  and privacy of the information and computing systems, networking, and equ
 ipment.\nTechnology Tracking:\n\nAssess new computing technologies and the
  feasibility of system enhancements to determine potential value.\nIdentif
 y emerging data systems and storage technologies to be assimilated, integr
 ated, and introduced within private and public cloud, and on-premise dedic
 ated data analysis and visualization systems.\nVision and Planning:\n\nHel
 p develop and articulate vision, and strategic planning for the Computatio
 nal Science Center’s (CSC) Advanced Computing Operations Team.\nSystem arc
 hitecture, design, implementation, and integration to serve the diverse co
 mputing needs of the NREL scientists, engineers, and analysts.\n\nBasic Qu
 alifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relat
 ed and two or more years of expeience or equivalent relevant education/exp
 erience. Or,  Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related 
 or equivalent relevant education/experience.\n\nPreferred Skills:\nAutomat
 ed configuration management using Ansible\nArchitecture, engineering, inst
 allation, and maintenance of OpenStack environment\nManagement of Linux op
 erating systems\nScripting languages Python, Shell(s), Bash, Expect\nSyste
 m monitoring and alerting tools\nSolid understanding of networked computin
 g environment concepts such as TCP/IP, VLAN\nEnterprise level directory se
 rvices (LDAP), RHEL IdM/IPA\nInstallation and maintenance of web servers i
 ncluding Apache and NGINX\nFamiliarity with OpenStack\nBridge gaps between
  domain language (engineering, science) and computing solution language\nC
 ustomer focused\nProven ability to embrace and drive change\nClear dedicat
