SUMMARY:Training for Researcher-Facing Cyberinfrastructure Professionals:
 The Virtual Residency
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nTraining for Researcher-Facing Cyberinfrastructure
  Professionals: The Virtual Residency\n\nNeeman\n\nCyberinfrastructure Fac
ilitators play a crucial role in helping researchers maximize the value th
ey get from the computing-intensive/data-intensive aspects of their resear
ch. And, their ranks have been growing steadily, as more institutions empl
oy more CI Facilitators. The skills that they need to be successful includ
e not only technical topics but especially professional/interpersonal/soft
skills, because CI Facilitation depends on teaching, cultivating relation
ships and leadership. To address this need, the Virtual Residency Program
has been teaching key CI Facilitation skills since 2015, to pre-service an
d in-service CI Facilitators, at introductory, intermediate and advanced l
evels. In this presentation, we'll look at what the Virtual Residency has
been doing, how, and why.\n\nTag: Education, Training and Outreach, HPC Tr
